Indie Ghetto

Film & Music Arena

Friday 17th July, 2009
22:15 - 23:05

Indie Ghetto is an online hip-hop covers show for indie artists. Musicians are invited to play their cover in front of a green screen, which once edited, mirrors the New York Bronx.

At Latitude, on the Film and Music stage, we will be doing a live version of the online show. Billed with a secret line-up not to be announced until the show starts, Indie Ghetto hopes to provide something special by having its own mini festival of acts in under an hour.  A competition to find the best cover performed by a ticket holder for latitude has been running online and the best of the bunch get to perform their cover alongside the acts on stage.

Indie Ghetto has been featured on The BBC website as one of the top DIY Music shows.  We have also been supported by Trevor Nelson and Gemma Cairneys’ Breakfast show on BBC Radio 1Xtra, and by Nick Grimshaw and Annie Mac on Radio 1.

Acts involves so far have been: Kate Nash, Scroobius Pip, The Rifles, I Blame Coco, Peggy Sue., Jay Jay Pistolet, Paloma Faith, Phill Jupitus and Performance Poet startlet Dockers MC covered the Beastie Boys, which has led to an influx of comedians all vying to be involved in the show.

Over the summer this will be Indie Ghettos only live performance exclusive to Latitude Festival.
