An artist and illustrator, he lives and works in Brighton. Burgess has exhibited his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in both this country and abroad. He also a lecturer at the University of Brighton.
Since graduating from Camberwell School of Art and the Royal College of Art in London, Paul Burgess has worked as a freelance illustrator for many different clients including: The Guardian, Sex Pistols, Rough Trade Records, Pulp, Top Shop, Vintage Books, MTV, Penguin Books, Island Records, The Observer, Wolff Olins, Greenpeace, The Independent, Sunday Times, The Delays, and many others.
Paul Burgess is also the co-author of the book ‘Satellite: Sex Pistols Graphic Design and Memorabilia’ (Abstract Sounds Publishing 1999) and has contributed regularly to various music and design publications. He is an adviser to Sotheby’s on the subject of ‘Punk Graphics and Clothing’ and has written numerous articles on the subject in the music press. He has worked with the Sex Pistols on numerous occasions as a photographer and graphic designer.
Paul Burgess will produce portraits of some of the key artists and performers at Latitude, eg. Grace Jones, Nick Cave & these images will be completed live during the Festival using paint/collage on wood/found objects and situated in the woods.
