Luke Wright is co-programmer of Latitude's Stand-up Poetry Arena and its main host. This year he will be bringing a wealth of new talent including Emily Berry, Ash Sarkar, Brigitte Aphrodite, Joe Duggan, David VanCauter, Mark Grist, Ian Horn, Helen Mort, Steve Rooney and Jack Stannard.

Based in Leicester, Steve Rooney has been described as delivering “ironic and witty perspectives from the hard shoulder of life's motorway." He claims to write sharp, satirical poetry and to possess an assured performance style. Such claims have helped to secure gigs in various towns and cities, and at numerous festivals, throughout the UK. Hardly competitive by nature, he has nevertheless contrived to win a number of poetry slams, including the 2008 UK All Stars Slam at the Cheltenham Literature Festival. This title will elapse in October 2009, so catch him now before the inevitable slide back into total obscurity.
