Human rights lawyer Clive Stafford-Smith will speak about his work at Guantanamo Bay representing victims of extraordinary rendition and torture.

Clive is the founder of legal action charity Reprieve, which uses the law to enforce the human rights of prisoners around the world. Reprieve currently represents 33 prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, while also assisting prisoners facing the death penalty and investigating rendition and secret detention in the so-called ‘war on terror.’

Clive will also discuss the use of music torture – an ‘enhanced interrogation technique’ whereby prisoners are bombarded for months on end with ear-splitting sounds. Backed by hundreds of musicians, Reprieve’s zero dB [against music torture] campaign wants the Obama administration to explicitly ban the use of music torture by January 2010. Prominent supporters of zero dB already include Massive Attack, Elbow, The Doves, Dizzee Rascal and the Alabama 3.

For more information about Reprieve please go to www.reprieve.org.uk. Please visit www.zerodb.org to add your silent protest to Reprieve’s campaign against music torture.
