Jay Bernard is a writer from London. She started performing her poetry aged 15, after attendeding a series of workshops with Apples and Snakes. She then went on to win the Respect Slam in 2004 and the Foyle’s Young Poets competition a year later. 

Her poems and thoughts on poetry have been published in magazines such as Chroma, Poetry London and Dazed and Confused. ‘Girl’ is the title of her first pamphlet, which was selected as the Poetry Book Society’s pamphlet of choice for summer 2008. 

As well as writing poetry, Jay has been commissioned by the Royal Opera House in London to write a libretto based on ‘Rake’s Progress’ by William Hogarth. She is also a DJ for the Poetry Society and podcasts regularly.buy
